I looked at these jackets by M-Edge for the Sony Touch PRS-600 many weeks before finally deciding to take the plunge -- spurred by seeing the orientation I preferred for half of the price in fuschia. The picture doesn't really do it justice; it is very well made and a gorgeous colour (it really is fuschia, though, which many people do not prefer). The outside is a soft but sturdy pebbled leather, which feels as if it has a slight inner padding.
When you open it up, the inside is a gorgeous with-nap light grey suede, with pockets for a business card and two sd cards, and a pocket running the whole of the top cover (for papers? not sure). All seams seem very sturdy, even, and well-sewn, and look perfect.
The reader is held inside by four diagonal straps, one at each corner. The two bottom straps are solid, and perfectly shaped to hold the very corners of the reader without damaging the looks by cutting across a huge part of the corner. The upper two straps are shaped identically, but have elastic sides so that you can easily slot the reader into the case. From seeing pictures of this model in one of the other colours, I had been afraid that the straps holding the reader would be flimsy or not hold it well. But, to my surprise, although they are the dimensions they appeared to be, tbey are very well made and strong and hold the reader quite firmly.
There is a loop of elastic at the upper right that looks like a pen holder. I tried out putting the stylus in it, but the stylus was too narrow to stay;-) My case has a space of about 3/4-inch width along the left edge of the reader (perhaps so that you can attach one of their mini reading lamps to it?) although I have not been able to find one to try it out.
My friend who got the "horizontal" version in a mocha brwon says that his has the same inner light-grey suede as mine (which is a beautiful match for the silver readers; I don't know why they did the pictures with a black one!); and he reports the same quality although I forgot to ask whether it works to "strap the book open" and read.
One of my favourite things about this is that they are designed so that you can open the case to such an angle as if you were going to lean it like a picture frame, and then take the strap and tuck it back into the holder. This holds the case securely open, so that you can put it on a table in front of you and just read. You did have to hold onto it in order to use the touchscreen, but the page forward and back buttons could be operated without bracing anything, so you could just put it on a table in front of you and have one finger ready to press the next page button.
I got mine from marketplace seller J&R for $17.97 plus shipping. My delivery was fast but that was before they had a limited quantity and a delivery time disclaimer;-( For me, this case was every bit as beautiful, sturdy, and well-made as I had hoped it would be.
