 Nervous about my Kindle 2 protectionMay 26, 2009

I read most of the reviews about leather holders for the Kindle 2. There was also some concern from owners that a light was needed and the other covers did not have something to hold the cover closed. That made me think I wanted the Periscope cover because it has a built in light and a snap to hold the cover closed.
Upon delivery, I immidiately placed the Kindle 2 in the cover but did not like the fit of the 4 elastic corners. I checked the Periscope site and the picture showed, what I thought to be a different slant on the elastic as it crossed the corner of the Kindle 2. However, mine seemed off about 1/4" from the picture. I phoned, Eric Fisherman INC, the providing company and they suggested that, if I didn't trust the elastics to hold in the Kindle 2 to attach a velcro dot to its back and the other side to the cover. I told them that was not an acceptable solution to the problem.
I discovered that the included light made the Kindle 2, in the cover, too large to handle easily and decided that I wanted something smaller.
They agreed to allow me to return the cover for a refund.
I was happy with their return policy.

I received my Folio for Kindle 2 and I could not be any happier. It has taken me several weeks to find the right cover, and to find one with a light is more than I thought possible.
First of all I am very impressed with the quality of the Folio. The actual book itself, the stitching and the seams are even and very neatly done, no frayed edges. I love that. I love the notebook access and I love the space for the pen, keeping notes while you read is essential. The Kindle fits in the four elastic corner holders beautifully, it is secure, and stays put. The light itself, is such a great quality. Unlike other small book lights I have had in the past, this light is bright, and incredibly stable. The light stays put no matter what position you put it in. I am use to book lights tipping over, and not staying in the position you put them in, having to adjust them every few minutes, but not this one, this one is awesome. So that leaves the magnetic clasp. It is easy to close the cover and it finds the magnet on the other side of the Folio, securing the Kindle, preventing any accidentally dropping from ever happening. Trust me, you won't be sorry you bought this Folio, and no, I don't work for the company.

I really enjoy this product. I like the protection it gives my Kindle screen. Also, the light is also as bright and as easy to use as the often touted Mighty Bright Flex Light (also have this one). The added notepad has come in handy as well.
Only reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because the corner holders. I find that sometimes my Kindle comes out of the corners, and wish they were slightly more secure.
Would definately recommend this product.

The light works well as long as the batteries are very fresh. Then you need to reposition the light as you read further down the page. The main problem is the periscope. After a few months use, it doesn't stay out when you pull it out. It keeps sliding back in. It also turns off as it slides back in with the smallest movement.

While at first glance this item seems the perfect addition to our wonderful kindle, upon receiving the item I was highly disappointed (especially considering the price $49.99)! The size is small but heavy and bulky so when I travel I return my kindle to my first cover which is so much lighter.
I brought it especially for the light located within the case but this light is difficult to use, moving it up and down can be a real pain in the well you know where.
To be honest which I had never brought it but I really wish they would either make a light that would fit within any of the cases they sell or that this light moved up and down better. However, what would be best is if somehow Kindle could make a new version with a back light for when reading in the dark now that would rock!
